The fourth from Michigan’s Stevens and the first to be released in the UK, Seven Swans is a delirious baptism of mystical chamber-pop from the only worthy challenger to Devendra Banhart’s crown as Emperor of New Folk. The title track, in particular, is a goosebump-inducing quasi-religious fire of strings, choir and hillbilly banjo. Magnificent.
