Lo-fi loveliness abounds, with hunting, echoey banjos, old pianos, hypnotic breathy vocals and repeated rhythms all combining in delicate tales of the supernatural, the religious and the everyday. Evoking some other, earlier, simpler time with touches of bluegrass and old-timey folkiness, the layers of harmonies and spooky electronic sounds make the album sound slightly other-worldly (at times reminiscent of label mate Alasdair Roberts’ way with the folk idiom). A beautifully warm and seductive album.
