Vart Land has just posted some pictures of Steve Stevens (via) as he performs during the Kamerad & Spelemann Festival (Aug 23). He must have left the Happy Hippos in the green room. Most of the reviews so far are in Norwegian but it looks like he played a “greatest hits” set with Sarah Hepburn joining him on “Chicago”. If you attended the show be sure to write a review here.

If you haven’t had a chance to see Sufjan’s performance on Austin City Limits, or if you want to watch it again, check your local listings to find out when the show airs. Sufjan’s episode - split with Calexico - is being replayed this week. Videos of “Casimir Pulaski Day” and a short interview are available on the ACL web site.

Sufjan is among the artists that are featured in Andy Miller’s indie rock / (RED) inspired coloring book which he created for his final degree show. Oops, Andy should have done his homework: although Sufjan did a cover of it last year for Take Away Shows, “The Lakes of Canada” is actually a song by the innocence mission. (via)

The cover story in the Jul/Aug 2008 issue of Symphony examines the convergence of rock bands and orchestras. Sufjan is among the artists featured. “I no longer distinguish between classical and rock forms… Music is not a monologue, after all, but a chattering of conversations.” The entire article is available as a free PDF download.
