Hey Guys! It’s Christmas in September!

Rockabye Baby Lullaby Renditions of Christmas Rock Classics (front) Mike Baiardi is the man behind the popular Rockabye Baby! CD series in which he “transforms timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies [using] glockenspiel, vibraphone, mellotron, harp and bells.” A new Rockabye Baby! compilation will be released on September 11 titled Lullaby Renditions Of Christmas Rock Classics. While the title is self-explanatory, it is worth noting that one of the reworked “Christmas rock classics” is Sufjan’s song “Hey Guys! It’s Christmas Time” from last year’s 5-disc Songs For Christmas set. Also on the disc are lullaby renditions of yuletide hits by Death Cab For Cutie, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins and others.

ROCKABYE BABY! BRINGS ITS SOOTHING TOUCH TO HOLIDAY ROCK SONGS
Lullaby Renditions of Christmas Rock Classics Hits Stores Sept. 11

Christmastime is the season when the whole family likes to rock with the holiday spirit. The best-selling, critically acclaimed Rockabye Baby! series is ready to ring in the 2007 holiday season for cherub rockers and their parents with Lullaby Renditions of Christmas Rock Classics. Beginning Sept. 11, Christmas songs from rock’s biggest and best-loved acts will now soothe babies off to slumberland with visions of sugar plum fairies dancing in their heads thanks to music that moms and dads will also enjoy (as a relaxing respite from the hectic holiday pressures).

Lullaby Renditions of Christmas Rock Classics features 13 holiday songs that are classics in the Christmas rock canon. Included are holiday instrumentals to superstars like John Lennon, The Kinks, The Pretenders, The Ramones, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins and No Doubt as well as Christmas songs from such contemporary stars as Sufjan Stevens, blink-182, Death Cab for Cutie and The Killers. Rounding out the set are tributes to the holiday cult classic “Christmas Wrapping” by The Waitresses and the landmark rock charity song “Do They Know It’s Christmas” by Band Aid.

Over the last year, the Rockabye Baby! lullaby albums have revolutionized children’s music by “putting the baby to sleep with music the parents will love,” as the Boston Herald says. Guitars and drums are traded for such delicate instruments as the glockenspiel, vibraphone, Mellotron, harp and bells to create a soothing atmosphere of sound that is sophisticated enough for everyone to enjoy yet gentle enough for newborn little rockers.

The series has been both a sales sensation and a media darling. Entertainment Weekly has featured Rockabye Baby! in four issues, Esquire gave Rockabye Baby! one of its Esky Music Awards, and The New York Times led a Sunday Arts & Leisure story on the new children’s music with the series, all in addition to a slew of favorable reviews in local and national media outlets. Child-rearing journals like Parents, Parenting, American Baby and Child magazine have all given the soothing rock lullabies their seal of approval while Hot Topic tattooed its hip and edgy imprimatur onto the series with an exclusive
10-song Rockabye Baby! sampler.

The catalog of Rockabye Baby! albums features lullaby renditions of the music of acts including Metallica, Radiohead, Coldplay, Tool, Pink Floyd, Beach Boys, The Cure, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Queens of the Stone Age, U2, The Ramones, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, No Doubt, The Beatles, Bjork, Bob Marley and Green Day. In the works are albums that give the lullaby treatment to songs by The Rolling Stones, The Pixies, AC/DC, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Kanye West, Depeche Mode, Black Sabbath and more.
