Sufjan played two shows and gave a lecture at the 3rd biennial Festival of Faith and Music. Held on March 30-31 at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI, the Festival also featured performances by Neko Case, Emmylou Harris and Anathallo, and keynote addresses by writers Lauren Winner and David Dark.

The Asthmatic Kitty and Sounds Familyre labels were well represented with Michael Kaufmann, Liz Janes, Daniel Smith and Lenny Smith all conducting workshops, a performance by Liz Janes, and a film showing of Danielson: A Family Movie.

Sufjan declared at the 9:30 show that it was the last time he would be playing as Majesty Snowbird. His band, the Magical Butterfly Kite Brigade, featured Bryce Dessner of The National, Annie Clark aka St. Vincent, and a 5-piece brass band.

Both of Sufjan’s performances as well as Anathallo’s performance were all filmed for a possible DVD release. Sound files for most of the workshops will be online soon at FFM’s site.
